Training and Services

The Center for Mentoring Excellence provides training to mentoring program coordinators, youth development professionals, mentors and mentees seeking to enhance their knowledge of mentoring. By staying in the forefront of best practices and cutting edge research in the mentoring community we provide quality training and resources that ensure mentoring programs are safe and successful.  Currently, we provide in-person trainings and webinars throughout New York State.

Design and Manage a Quality Mentoring Program: Elements of Effective Practices

For youth development professionals interested in developing a mentoring program, this comprehensive session will provide the necessary tools and information to launch and sustain an effective youth mentoring program.

Participants will: 

  • Learn about the Elements of Effective Practice
  • Receive a copy of MENTOR's Elements of Effective Practice Toolkit, containing more than 200 tools and templates for effective mentoring program design
  • Understand the planning aspects of developing a mentoring program, and the key roles of staff in ensuring that mentoring relationships are meaningful, sustainable, and fun for youth served.
  • Leave with initial plans for their organization's mentoring program development.

Breakfast Forums

We host a Breakfast Forum twice a year for an opportunity for mentoring program coordinators and youth development professionals to learn, mingle, and discuss. Each Forum focuses on the relevant and cutting-edge youth development issues and practices.

Customized Training

Our Program Development Directors are experts in the field of mentoring and youth development.  As you navigate your training needs, our team will work with you to develop trainings that can support the development of program staff, mentors or parents engaged with your organization.  For instance, we can develop trainings in the areas of youth engagement, goal setting, listening skills, and in many other topics, etc.
