About the Event

Through her observation of relationships between mentees, mentors, and program staff, Dr. Julia Pryce created the concept of attunement in the mentoring field. Dr. Pryce consistently saw that staff (and mentors) who had the strongest relationships with young people were those that were most attuned.

In this highly interactive session, we will define attunement, consider the ways that we are attuned to the young people in our program—and the ways in which we can be more intentional about it. The first step of attunement is centering ourselves before we spend time with and/or have a conversation with a young person. Centering ourselves well is dependent on our own self-awareness, so we will spend some of the session reflecting on our own self-care and habits, to be more attuned to the young people that we work with.
